Christian Protests Muslim Backing for Da Vinci Code
WASHINGTON (AP) The chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission says "The Da Vinci Code" is an anti-Christian and anti-Semitic film that was financed by a British Muslim.

Ted Baehr says Mohammed Yusef's Invicta Capital put up most of the estimated $200 million it cost to make the film version of Dan Brown's novel.

Baehr told reporters at a Washington news conference, "I think it's a very serious problem when people start funding movies and books to attack somebody else's religious faith."

He said the financial backing for "The Da Vinci Code" reveals "a terrible double standard" by Muslims who erupt in violent protests when they believe their own faith is being attacked.

Anybody else see THC's Digging For The Truth? Completely debunked nearly every claim made by Dan Brown (he does claim that the basis for the story is true).

Debunked by science and history not gospel. I was actually a bit surprised that the whole premiss seems to be 100% false. Again this was not a faith based attack but one using science and reliable history.

If a person foolish enough to believe the story made by Brown, then you honestly do not need an explanation. What makes it so touchy is the context, such a taboo subject. A play on faith, The Da Vinci Code is steeped in many truths, but what are the ones that have truth? If you think anything brought upon an organization in this day and age will not garner a response or a "debunking" a "breaking of Browns code" or anything else you want to call it, you are easily fooled. Anything but positive press about anything and your gonna catch the full front of thjat groups "spin control" Opus Dei, Catholic Church, Priory, etc. You could prob have the same affect if you stuck in the Mickey Mouse Clube instead of those previously mentioned and someone would do a documentary discounting the fact they werent really mice. Facts, Is their a group called the Opus Dei? Yes. Is their a catholic church? yes. Was their a man named Jesus? Yes. Is their a Vatican City? Yes. Is their a group called The SWISS Guard? Yes. Have their been recorded history about a group called the Illumanati? Yes. Was their a man named Da Vinci? Yes. I could go on with examples like this, but thepoint is. Those are all facts, tried concrete and true. What you do beyond that with those facts could be limitless, keep them in their original context and add your own story and cause an up roar like Brown has "shaking peoples faith to the core" as I have read commentary on the book (which I beg to ask if this shakes your foundation your foundation must not have been very strong, the book is full if historical inaccuracies that anyone who took Ancient History or World History could point out)or you could use the previous mentioned facts and say The Vatican City is a term for a doughnut that a guy named Jesus once ate, that his friend from the swiss guard suggested to him when he was watching an infomercial on the Illumanati light bulb, just before Da Vinci came over for a beer and they got into a discussion about how many doughnuts are in a bakes Opus Dei.

I have read both The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, both great works of fiction, entertaining and fun to read. Do I live by them? No. Have they changed my ideas of faith? No. Do I beleieve anyone had a secret marriage that took place and royal bloodlines from Jesus exist? No.

But it did make the time go by faster when I was on downtime from being a lifeguard.

c'mon guys please, anti-christian? if anything it proves that there is a divine being around us

I wanna ask a question, for all to answer.

Do you think its possible to ever find proof of religion?
ie. the true cross? the crown of thorns? the holy grail? the ark of the covenant? Etc?

i dont believe so...especially in Christian faith because so much relies upon "blind faith" and not knowing exact reasons for everything

RELIGION is what separates everyone. Spirituality is what we all have in common.

I will however, say, I know the Da Vinci Code was fake... but there is the period in Christ life, that we do not know about. So, could he have been married? Yes, but it's not proven and never will be. But does it actually matter if he were married or not? No, not really.

But the movie was awesome....
